Firefighters tackled a house blaze in Burnham-On-Sea on Monday evening (July 7th) that led to six people being evacuated and two people being treated for smoke inhalation.
Three fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea, Bridgwater and Cheddar were sent to the property in Hawkins Close at 8.20pm.
On arrival, firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the property, tackling the fire with hose reel jets that started in a bedroom.
A thermal imaging camera was deployed to detect any potential hotspots.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was brought under control using two hose reel jets and other specialist equipment.”
”The property was completely affected by smoke and suffered around 20% fire damage. The cause is believed to have been accidental.”
Several occupants were assessed by paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation, with some requiring further treatment.
Six people were evacuated and two people went to hospital following smoke inhalation, added a spokesman.
