Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called to Brean Down on Wednesday evening (May 29th) to help an injured walker who had dislocated her ankle.

The team was called out just before 5.15pm to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust evacuate a walker who had caught her foot in a rabbit hole that was hidden in the grass.

“There was a number of other walkers who were nearby and they all stopped to help out including a Scout leader from Cornwall who all did amazing work in helping not only the injured lady but also her family — another fine example of people helping others in their time of need.”

“When we arrived on scene the Ambulance team were busy treating the lady and administering pain relief ready for transporting her to the Ambulance below.”

“Once the pain relief kicked in it was all hands on deck to get her to the Ambulance with as little fuss as possible for onward transport to the local hospital.”

“We wish her a speedy recovery and hope she is back on her feet enjoying the views of our lovely coastline again soon.”
