Extended summer gives Burnham traders their ‘best-ever September’

-

Businesses in Burnham-On-Sea are enjoying one of their busiest ever Septembers thanks to the continuing summer weather.

Visitors were out in force over the weekend, visiting shops and cafes in the town, with some accommodation providers also reporting a late boost in bookings.

The Indian Summer conditions saw temperatures on Sunday (September 28th) reach 23.2°C (73°F).

Burnham Tourism Information Centre Manager Ian Jefferies told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The good weather has brought many extra visitors into the town, resulting in late bookings for accommodation providers and more trade in our shops, which is great for the town.”

“The extended summer is very welcome after a slow start to the year.”

Pavilion Manager Louise Parkin confirmed: “It’s been our busiest September on record. The ongoing summer weather has been great for trade. We have been busy with sales of ice cream and cool drinks, which would usually be slowing down by now.”

And a Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade spokesman added that some shops in the town centre have also benefited, with the extra visitors giving the town centre a seasonal boost.
