Burnham and Highbridge Christmas lights awards handed to residents

The winners of Burnham and Highbridge’s annual Christmas lights competition have received their prizes this week.

The winners were invited along to a meeting of the Town Council’s Town Projects Committee on Wednesday (January 25th) to receive their cups and certificates from the councillors who judged the contest.

In Burnham-On-Sea, the entries were judged by Cllr Peter Burridge-Clayton and Cllr Victoria Weavell.

The best house award in Burnham went to John Hill at 9a Brightstowe Road and Fay Donnellan at 52 Broadhurst Gardens.

The award for the best group of illuminated houses went to Mountbatten Close in Burnham-On-Sea.

In Highbridge, the best house award went to Trevor and Elaine Searle at 7 Fairdeane Road with second place going to Gemma Baillie at 6 Mallard Place.

The best decorated business in Burnham-On-Sea, judged by Burnham Chamber of Trade, was Flowers & Things in the High Street. Second place was Higos Insurance in Victoria Street. Highly commended were Freshair and the British Legion.

The best businesses in Highbridge were judged by Cllrs Nick Tolley and Janet Keen with first place going to Sandra’s Hairdressers and second to St Margaret’s Hospice. Highly commended in Highbridge were Inspired Hair Group and The Post Office.
