Police issue appeal after driver flees on foot after Burnham-On-Sea Police pursuit

-

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pursuit through Burnham-On-Sea ended with a driver fleeing on foot.

Officers attempted to stop a blue Vauxhall Meriva (pictured here) in Love Lane at mid-day on Friday 8th May on suspicion of having no insurance.

Police say the driver failed to stop, leading to a short chase that ended when the vehicle struck a car and a lorry.

The man behind the wheel escaped the scene before officers could detain him.

A Police spokesman confirmed: “Shortly after midday on Friday 8th May a blue Vauxhall Meriva was stopped by officers in Love Lane after it was suspected of being driven while uninsured.”

”It followed a short pursuit in which the car collided with a car and a lorry. The driver of the car, described as being about 6ft tall with long black hair, subsequently fled the scene on foot and enquiries are ongoing to locate him.”

“If you have any information which could help our investigation, please call 101 using the reference number 5226126090.”
