A Brean holiday park has this week presented a donation of £4,300 to a Burnham-On-Sea charity following a successful fortnight of fundraising during the village’s recent country western festival.
BARB Search & Rescue received the donation from Northam Farm towards life-saving equipment and the costs of running its two rescue hovercrafts and inshore rescue boats.
The charity’s volunteers spent many hours in Brean during October’s country festival collecting donations from visitors to Northam Farm Holiday Park and The Seagull pub, while the park also organised various fundraising activities.
David Scott, owner of Northam Farm, said: “We are very pleased to have raised such a great amount for this super local charity. We wanted to see the money being put to good use locally and the volunteers at BARB do such a great job all year-round to keep our coastline here safe that the charity was a clear choice.”
BARB Chairman Mark Newman said: “This is a huge amount for us and we are very grateful to everyone at Northam Farm and The Seagull, plus the westerners who dug deep during this year’s festival. As a small local charity, BARB relies on local donations to keep running – we therefore greatly appreciate support like this.”
