Brean Play is to host a session this week for children and young adults with disabilities and special educational needs.
The early evening session on Wednesday, 5th December will be specifically for children and young adults with disabilities and special educational needs from 4-5.30pm.
There will be exclusive use of the whole facility for all ages, including the toddler area, which is usually age restricted. In addition, there will be a quiet room available, and a mini disco.
This year has seen further investment in new state of the art sensory play equipment, which has been well received by visitors.
Director Sarah House said: “The event is an idea put forward by one of our team members, and will be a trial to gauge interest in the hope that this will become a regular session in the future.”
“If we receive enough positive feedback and interest, we will be running this on a monthly basis. It will be a great social event for children and young adults, as well as their parents and carers.”
Brean Splash is currently in the proof stage of a Sensory Guide for the facility which will be aimed to cover a wide range of disabilities to help visitors plan their visit from their arrival in the car park to their departure.
They already offer an exclusive disabled session weekly during term time on a Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 am in the 25m pool. The pool has a unique soft cushioned floor and is accessed with walk down steps and a handrail. Everyone is welcome.
The play session on Wednesday costs £5.50 per child/young adult, with parents and carers free of charge. Siblings are welcome. The café will be open for food and drinks.
