Burnham-On-Sea cancer survivor holds head shave to help support centre

-

A Burnham-On-Sea cancer survivor has raised hundreds of pounds for the Macmillan Cancer Support Centre by having her head shaved.

Linda Smart has raised £586 for the service by having her locks shaved during an event at the Somerset and Dorset pub in Burnham-On-Sea.

Linda is battling with breast cancer for a second time, and is undergoing chemotherapy at the Oncology Day Unit at Weston Hospital.

Emma Pugh, from Macmillan Weston Cancer Centre, thanked Linda for her support and said: “The funds will go towards the centre’s refurbishment, community events and new equipment. We are very grateful for Linda’s fundraising efforts and wish her all the best with her treatment.”

Phil Burke, landlord at the S&D, said Jodie Gregg, a member of the bar staff was hugely influential and supportive of Linda’s fundraising, encouraging the customers to dig deep for the worthy cause.

Kelly Leakey, a friend of Linda’s, did the head shave.
