Almost £2,000 was collected for local good causes during last Sunday night’s seafront fireworks display in Burnham-On-Sea.

Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club, the official collector at the event, has thanked all those who attended the event and dug deep to donate.

Burnham Rotary Club President Ashley Edwards said: “£1,965 was collected from a great number of spectators.”

“This amount, less some minor expenses, will be shared, as usual, on a 60/40 basis between Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club and Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, to support their respective local charities.”

He added: “We are most grateful for the generosity of spectators and to all our collectors, especially the army cadets and sea cadets, who assisted us on the evening, and to BoS Hair, who acted as a base for our collectors.”

Big crowds lined the seafront to watch the display
