A Burnham-On-Sea swimming coach has won FIVE gold medals at a top regional swimming event.

George Vowles, 20, struck gold at the Somerset and Gloucestershire County Swimming Championships in the Senior Open Category in Bristol over the Bank Holiday weekend.

George is a familiar face at Burnham Swim and Sports Academy in Berrow Road where he’s a Swim Academy Instructor, Lifeguard, Duty Manager and Coach.

Talking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, he said: “I won the 100m medley, 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 50m front crawl, and 50m butterfly. It didn’t sink in immediately what I’d achieved, but I’m hugely pleased!”

George added: “I was recently doing training, when Sara said I should give the Masters a try to see how I do. I thought I’d give it a bash and am really pleased with how it went.”

“I’m hoping to qualify for the National Masters in Sheffield this Autumn. I’m really looking forwards to it.”

Sara Cox-Conklin from the Academy added: “Our huge congratulations go to George on this fantastic achievement. It’s phenomenal that George is a five-time County Champion!”
