A Channel Five TV crew has visited Burnham-On-Sea to film scenes for a new documentary series.
The new series, which has a working title of Coastal Britain, is a celebration of Britain’s coastline, the people who work around it and its history, archaeology and wildlife.
The presenter JB Gill was in Burnham for the filming – he is a well-known singer and TV presenter who was a member of the boy band JLS, who were runners-up on the fifth series of The X Factor.
He’s also a presenter of the BBC’s Countryfile and Springwatch shows and was a contestant on the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The crew visited Burnham’s rescue hovercraft charity BARB Search & Rescue to feature the work of the organisation and its volunteers.
A BARB spokesperson said: “It was great to welcome JB. He joined a training exercise with BARB on Burnham beach to learn more about our hovercrafts and the work of our team – we look forward to seeing the series later in the year.”
The TV crew also filmed a feature about Burnham’s low lighthouse during their visit. The series is scheduled to be broadcast in the autumn.
