A Highbridge knife attack victim saved his own life after having his throat slit – by stemming the blood with a doner kebab, it was reported on Tuesday (February 8th).

The Sun reported that quick-thinking James Hobbs, 37, held the wrapped £3.40 snack to his neck for several minutes until his cousin found a towel to cover the 5 inch gash.

James lost over six pints of blood by the time medics arrived. He needed an operation to open his windpipe so he could breathe and 27 staples to seal the cut.

James said this week: “I instinctively whacked the kebab to my neck to restrict blood flow. It’s pure luck I was hungry.”

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported here how 37 year-old Mr Hobbs had been attacked outside Charlotte Court last month.

Doctors said he was lucky not to have died due to the severity of the knife injuries to his throat. Jamie Edney, 34, has been charged over the attack.

Police are pictured at the scene of last month’s stabbing
