Burnham-On-Sea police have seized a quantity of suspected drugs during a raid on a home in the town.

Officers carried out a search warrant at a property in the middle of Burnham-On-Sea on Friday (February 24th).

“They seized a quantity of white tables and white powder thought to be controlled drugs,” said spokeswoman Miriam Brown.

“A 37 year-old man voluntarily attended the police station to assist with further enquiries following the warrant.”

“The drugs have gone for forensic testing and our investigation is ongoing.”

It comes during a series of drugs warrants across Sedgemoor during the last few weeks.

A drugs warrant in Cheddar earlier in Febrruary found two men in their early 20’s in possession of cannabis. One received a cannabis warning and a second is attending the police station voluntarily for questioning.

Inspector Andy Pritchard, Neighbourhood Manager for Sedgemoor, said: “Officers carried out these warrants direct result of information being provided by the community about suspected drug dealing.”

“Residents have made it clear they don’t want it in their neighbourhood, we won’t tolerate it and we are taking proactive action across Sedgemoor to deal with it. Please keep talking to us, either directly or via Crimestoppers.”
