Plumes of spray were blown across Burnham-On-Sea seafront on Tuesday evening (February 28th) as high winds coincided with a high tide.

50mph onshore winds combined with a high 11.1m tide to create big waves and blowing sea water onto The Esplanade.

The Environment Agency closed Burnham-On-Sea’s flood gates at the town’s jetty and Maddock’s Slade as a precaution.

The Environment Agency has issued warnings around the Bristol Channel this week with further strong winds forecast for Wednesday evening (March 1st).
