brean rescue services day

Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue services will be among the groups attending an Emergency Services Day today (Saturday 20th July) at Brean Leisure Park.

The event, which is open to everyone, will celebrate the work of our local emergency services, including the RNLI, BARB Search & Rescue and Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard, plus Avon & Somerset Constabulary, Avon Search & Rescue, Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance, St John Ambulance and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

It will be held in the front car park from 10am to 4pm, and as in previous years, you can expect demonstrations and the opportunity to try out some the equipment used by local rescue teams and learn about water and coastal safety, as well as get to sit in emergency vehicles!

There will be a BBQ and food and drink will be available throughout the day across the various outlets at the park.

Sarah House, Director, said: “Due to our location on the coast, and particularly the dangers that can present themselves with the tidal conditions here, we very much support our local rescue services and feel it is important to hold events like this for both local people and the vast number of visitors we get in this area. ”

It is a fun and friendly way to find out about water safety, and we are looking forward to another successful day.”

“It’s also a good opportunity to raise funds on the day for our local emergency services.”

The event is free to enter but parking charges will still apply.
