Burnham-On-Sea to Brean walk held in memory of cancer victim Joe

-

Over 50 people completed a seven-mile beach walk from Burnham to Brean on Sunday in memory of 12 year-old Burnham-On-Sea cancer victim Joe Laoutaris.

Joe died last March after a brave two year fight against Ewings Sarcoma Cancer, leading to many fundraising activities being held in the Burnham and Highbridge area since that have raised over £10,000.

This week’s walk was held in his memory to raise money for Musgrove Children’s Ward in Taunton.

18 brave walkers also walked the seven miles back to Burnham, including Joe’s brother Dre.

The walkers then gathered for food and drinks at Burnham Yacht Club before releasing balloons on the beach.

Mel Laoutaris, Joe’s mum, said: “Thank you to Burnham Yacht Club and to all our family and friends who took part, plus those who cheered us on or donated.”

She added that another beach walk is being planned for a weekend in June or July.
