Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens will be holding a unique knitting event on Saturday (June 14th) to mark ‘Worldwide Knit in Public Week’.

The global event is being held this week in an attempt to encourage people to knit and crochet in public together with others.

Marine Cove Gardens on Burnham’s seafront will be hosting the event between 10am and 2pm when visitors will be encouraged to bring along their needles, wool, chair and a flask and join in!

The event is being organised by Burnham community knitting group Yarn Over, who meet regularly at The Princess Theatre and Arts Centre.

They approached Sedgemoor District Council’s Community Gardener Jacqui Strong about using the garden for the activity.

Jacqui said: “Sedgemoor District Council is pleased to see the gardens being used, particularly for this novel and inventive event!”

“If you are interested in hosting an event in the gardens get in touch by emailing me at jacqui.strong@sedgemoor.gov.uk or calling the office on 01278 436420.”
