Motorhome owners criticised for ‘effluence’ issue on Burnham seafront

-

Motor home owners have come in for criticism from a town councillor for causing anti-social problems along Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront.

Cllr Louise Parkin, right, spoke out at the latest town council meeting against the motor home owners, claiming that a small minority of them leave “effluence” along The Esplanade.

She explained: “Like dog owners, a small minority spoil it for the majority.”

“I really don’t think enough is being done to stop them parking on The Esplanade overnight,” she told councillors.

“We are not in competition with car parks and sites that are near the town. When they do park there overnight, nine times out of 10 they empty their rubbish and their effluence afterwards. It should be stamped out,” she said. “There are some wonderful holiday parks in our area and motorhome users should park in those rather than on The Esplanade.”

She told Burnham-on-Sea.com this week: “I have had residents coming to me to say ‘well done, it’s about time that someone said something’ regarding the issue.”
