Burnham-On-Sea’s MP has represented local cider makers at a function in Parliament.

Tessa Munt attended the annual meeting of an all-party Parliamentary group run by the cider industry to raise issues around apple growing and cider manufacture.

In 2010, the government raised and later dropped plans for a 10% tax rise on cider following fierce opposition from cider makers in Somerset and the Burnham area.

Tessa said: “This is a key industry in Somerset which I totally support. Although I don’t drink any alcohol, I have it on good authority that the best cider is Somerset cider!”
