Over £6,000 raised for Lympsham Church during village’s popular fete and classic car show

Over £6,000 was raised for Lympsham Church during the village’s popular annual summer fete and classic car show this month.

Visitors flocked to the long-running event on June 21st at the Manor Gardens in Church Road where dozens of vehicles went on show alongside stalls and refreshments in the picturesque gardens, pictured here.

Organiser James Counsell says: “As we felt might be the case, we broke all records, although we did not anticipate by how much. The previous record was in 2021, immediately after Covid, when there was a clamour to be able to meet up again, but, this year, we smashed that total by nearly £1,200, reaching a net figure of just over £6,600!”

“This could not have been done without all the hard work of the team. It is also a mark of the incredible generosity of everyone in the village to turn out and spend their money at the rate of £44 per minute!”

“We are very lucky to have such a fantastic event in our village and visitors repeatedly remark on how much they have enjoyed it and come back year after year. The money is also a huge help to the Church.”

The money will go to St Christopher’s church which is currently embarking upon a project to provide modern facilities inside which will make it easier for the building to be used for community activities, for the benefit of everybody, in addition to its central role as a place of worship.
