Two men have been arrested by police this week after a high-speed pursuit through the Burnham-On-Sea area.

The police helicopter was scrambled to track the vehicle as it was driven along the M5 through Somerset to Burnham before it was followed to Berrow early on Wednesday morning (July 13th).

Police spokesman Scott McPherson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police attempted to stop the vehicle at 1.30am in the Wellington area but the driver failed to stop and the vehicle was followed to Burnham-On-Sea along the motorway.”

“The vehicle left the M5 at Burnham and was followed to Berrow where two men were arrested – one a 33 year-old from Hampshire, who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.”

“The other man was 31 years-old and from Lincolnshire – he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified, and taking a vehicle without consent.”

The helicopter tracked the vehicle from the air and helped police officers on the ground make the two arrests.
