Batten down the hatches… strong gales forecast for Burnham-On-Sea

-

Burnham-On-Sea residents were being warned to brace themselves for heavy rain and gale-force winds on Saturday December 2nd.

The Met Office warned we should expect extremely windy weather on Saturday from midnight until Sunday (December 3rd) at 6am.

“Southerly winds will increase on Saturday evening to give gusts of 70mph-80mph,” said a spokesman. “This belt of very strong winds will continue to spread east across the rest of England and Wales on Saturday night giving gusts of up to 70mph on coasts and hills.”

“Although winds will ease down for a time on Sunday morning, later in the day another swathe of gales will spread into the UK when westerly winds will gust to 60-70mph.”

The Met Office says the gales could bring disruption to electricity supplies in the West Country and says there is a risk of some structural damage.
