Burnham-On-Sea’s MP swapped parliament for a classroom this week when she visited a Highbridge school.

Tessa Munt was invited to the town’s Churchfield School as part of their Book Week.

She is pictured here reading the tale of The Scarecrows’ Wedding, written by Julia Donaldson, to the children.

She told Burnham-On-Sea.com afterwards: “It was fantastic. I have a real passion for books, and loved reading to my own kids when they were younger.”

“I was delighted to spend time reading to the children and meeting the passionate staff at Churchfield Primary School in Highbridge.”

“The children really enjoyed The Scarecrows’ Wedding. The book was written well, with repetition and rhyme, which allowed the children to participate towards the end. They listened and behaved perfectly – I was very impressed! The Book Week is a wonderful initiative and I hope to be invited back to take part again.”
