Legal action has been launched in a bid to move the latest in a group of travellers who have set up camp in a Burnham-On-Sea car park.

The group of eight vans and motorhomes plus several horse boxes moved into the Pier Street car park on the town’s seafront on Tuesday (July 12th).

Sedgemoor District Council says it has begun proceedings to get them moved.

Sedgemoor District Council spokesman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Pier Street travellers have been served with court proceedings and the case is listed for Monday 18th July at 10am in Weston.”

It comes after several groups of travellers have pitched up in Burnham this summer – at the BASC sports ground, on the seafront, and in the same Pier Street car park.
