Dozens of shops and businesses across Burnham-On-Sea are displaying cryptic clues in their windows as part of a special treasure hunt organised by the town’s Chamber of Trade to coincide with the start of the school holidays, which get underway this week.

Each clue will feature a nautical validation symbol and the public is invited to see if they can follow the trail around the town centre and be in with a chance of winning £100 cash.

Entry forms are available from here and from participating businesses including the town’s seafront tourist information centre.

A Burnham Chamber of Trade spokesman said: “Burnham has a great range of shops and a large variety of goods on sale – and this event encourages people into our town centre to visit them.”

“We hope the treasure hunt will attract more people into the town centre at the start of the holidays in the run-up to Burnham’s emergency services day on August 7th when the winner will be announced.”
