Struggling kite surfer saved by lifeboat crew at Brean

-

A kite surfer was rescued at Brean Down on Sunday (May 2nd) after getting into difficulties.

Weston-super-Mare’s RNLI lifeboat was called out after the woman was reported to be struggling in the water.

Crews found the woman’s harness had become twisted and she was being dragged out to sea, unable to free herself.

“She was being dragged under the water, had breathing difficulties and was nearly unconscious,” a lifeboat spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

An RAF rescue helicopter, which was taking part in an exercise with Burnham-On-Sea RNLI near Stert Island, flew to the lady and took her to Weston General Hospital for treatment.
