A new Christmas movie featuring a cider farm near Highbridge and a Christmas shop in Cheddar is set to get its first cinema screening at Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Cinema later this week.
‘Christmas At The Holly Day Inn’ is a new romantic comedy featuring Eastenders legend Anita Dobson and former Doctor Who star Colin Baker.
Rich’s Cider Farm in Watchfield near Highbridge and Cheddar Gorge’s Christmas Shop both feature in several of the film’s festive scenes.
Several of the film’s production team will be attending this Saturday’s Burnham-On-Sea Christmas Lights Switch-On which will be followed by a special screening of the film at The Ritz Cinema in Victoria Street at 7pm. Limited tickets are available to buy here.
Rich’s Cider Farm spokeperson Richard Banfield told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were all excited to be involved with the production of ‘Christmas at the Holly Day Inn’ – from hosting the cast, through to filming ice skating scenes here.”
“Several members of the Rich’s family were extras in some scenes – so keep a look out for a few familiar faces!”
The film’s storyline centres around an over-achieving executive who quits her job just before Christmas and then travels to her father’s country inn to try to find some balance again – where romance blooms.
Richard adds: “Working with film director Monika Gergelova and the rest of the team involved with the production was a real pleasure and it’s great to see the local area on the big screen. Our Cider Press Restaurant at Rich’s Cider also catered for the cast and crew.”
Burnham-On-Sea Chamber of Trade helped the Ritz Cinema to secure the first cinema screening of the film, which coincides with the town’s Christmas lights switch-on at 6pm this Saturday.
The film is directed by Monika Gergelova and Adam Wilson, and produced by her growing west country film production company M and M Film Productions – founded by Ms Gergelova and Malcolm Winter in 2018.
