Burnham-On-Sea Priory Court care home

A resident at Burnham-On-Sea’s Priory Court care home has died in hospital of Coronavirus this week.

Priory Court in Burnham’s Oxford Street, pictured, has confirmed the sad news, which follows a statement yesterday that two people had died of Coronavirus at Burnham-On-Sea’s Frith House care home.

A spokeswoman for Country Court Care, which runs Priory Court, says: “Sadly, we had one person who was admitted to us last week, was taken to hospital, and has subsequently passed away after testing positive for Coronavirus.”

“Our thoughts are with their family and we hope that their need for privacy is respected at this difficult time. We have had no other positive cases in the home but are following infection control measures as a precaution. This includes isolating residents and barrier nursing with full PPE for all staff.”

The total number of Coronavirus deaths in Somerset hospitals across the four NHS trusts stands at 30.

The latest status reported by the NHS on Wednesday (April 15th) shows that over the past 24 hours the number of cases of Coronavirus in Somerset has reached 233 people across the Somerset County Council area.
