Burnham-On-Sea
traders welcome long-overdue Spring sunshine!

Long-awaited
Spring sunshine brought crowds of visitors into Burnham-On-Sea
on Sunday, putting a smile back onto the faces of traders in the
resort.
The
weather was welcome news for Burnham's tourist trade which has
been suffering from a late start to Spring caused by unseasonally
cold weather.
Despite
a biting wind, Burnham was bathed in bright sunshine on Sunday
and temperatures rose to 12 degrees Centigrade, bringing visitors
into town and prompting sales of ice creams.
Geoff
Lewis, owner of the Treasure Chest gift shop on the seafront,
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "A little bit of sunshine soon brings
out the visitors."
"We
don't usually open until Easter but saw the weather today and
decided to open early."
"We've
been selling buckets and spades all day," he said.
Further
along the town's seafront, opposite Burnham Sailing Club, a bank
of crocuses has burst into colour - another possible sign that
Spring may have finally sprung.
