Burnham-On-Sea
MP presents charity worker with community award
A
Burnham-On-Sea charity worker's tireless efforts have been recognised
this week with the presentation of a special community award by
the town's MP.
Barbara
Thorogood has been a leading light for many years within Burnham's
Gateway Club, BAY Centre, Diabetic Group and Stroke Club.
And
on Thursday (July 3rd), MP David Heathcoat-Amory presented her
with a 'Contribution To The Community Award' watched by the club's
members at Burnham's BAY Centre, as pictured here.
Barbara
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It was all a complete surprise
so I was thrilled to bits. It was a honour to receive the award
from David and wonderful to be presented with it in the BAY Centre."
Barbara
has been leader of the Gateway Club for eight years and treasurer
of the Stroke and Diabetic groups for five years. She previously
ran the town's playgroup for 20 years.
Her
certificate states: "In recognition of your outstanding achievements
and tireless efforts within your local community. We congratulate
you for all that you have accomplished."
