Dozens of residents flocked to the annual summer fair in East Huntspill, near Burnham-On-Sea, on Saturday (June 18th).

The event went ahead despite poor weather and included a country dancing display by the village’s schoolchildren plus a majorettes show by The Bridgwater Kestrels.

Villager Nigel Smith bravely volunteered to be locked in the stocks and have wet sponges thrown at him to raise money for the village’s school.

And Burnham-On-Sea’s Spirit Of Lelaina rescue hovercraft was also on display, along with beach safety information.

Tina Lukins from the school’s fundraising team told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event had been a great success.

“It was a very successful afternoon – we had a very good turnout despite heavy rain showers and a poor forecast,” she said.

“The performances by the majorettes and East Huntspill schoolchildren were very well received. We thank everyone for their support and hope to have raised a good sum for the school.”
