Parents in the Burnham-On-Sea area have this week been reassured that school meals are free of horsemeat.
Somerset County Council’s Trading Standards team has completed testing of school meals following concerns about the horsemeat scandal.
The council said on Friday that 28 samples were taken from a broad range of suppliers across the county and then analysed. All have been found to be clear of horsemeat.
A County Council spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are pleased that the results have come back showing no signs of horsemeat. We will remain vigilant and continue the process of testing food.”
The Trading Standards team will be contacting the kitchens where the samples were taken individually to let them know the results.
