Fire-fighters from Burnham-On-Sea helped to tackle a big blaze in Bridgwater on Tuesday evening, April 11th.

Two pumps from Burnham-On-Sea were mobilised at 6.33pm to a fire in a three storey Victorian building in Monmouth Street.

On arrival, it was found the first floor was well alight with flames spreading to the roof.

Fire crews from across Somerset tackled the blaze, with three pumps coming from Bridgwater, three from Taunton, two from Burnham, and one from both Nether Stowey and Street.

Command units from Bridgwater and Street were also in attendance, plus hydraulic platforms from Taunton and Bridgwater.

A Somerset Fire Brigade spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the incident had been brought under control in just over two hours. He added that at 8.45pm, most of the crews were returned to their stations.
