Two
arrested on suspicion of arson after two fires near Burnham-On-Sea

Two
people have been arrested on suspicion of arson following a major
barn fire at East Huntspill, near Burnham-On-Sea, and a separate
blaze at a nearby recycling centre in the early hours of Sunday
(September 24th).
Police
told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Monday that two people aged 19 and
21 had been arrested following investigations into the blaze at
Church Road in East Huntspill, pictured above, and a separate
fire at a nearby recycling centre off the A38.
Two
large five-bay barns containing 250 tons of hay were destroyed
in the fire, as we reported earlier.
Police
spokesman Ian Jury said: "We are investigating this fire
and can confirm that two people have been arrested on suspicion
of arson."
He
added: "They have been questioned and released on bail pending
further investigations."
He
appealed to any eyewitnesses to the fire, which started at around
1am on Sunday, to contact Bridgwater CID or Crimestoppers.
The
news came after motorists travelling through East Huntspill were
diverted around the scene on Sunday as Church Road was closed
for much of Sunday to allow the emergency services to tackle the
fire.
