Burnham-On-Sea
fire crews called to early morning M5 accident
Burnham-On-Sea
firefighters were called out in the early hours of Saturday (March
31st) to deal with an accident involving two cars on the M5 motorway
near the town.
One
fire appliance from Burnham and another from Weston were alerted
at 3am to the incident on the southbound carriageway between junction
22 at Burnham and junction 23 at Pawlett.
There
were initial concerns that someone may have been trapped inside,
however a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "On arrival
we found there was no-one trapped. There was a lot of debris across
the carriageway that had to be cleared away as both vehicles were
damaged."
Speed
restrictions and lane closures were introduced by the Highways
Agency and police.
