Sub-zero temperatures leave icy scenes along Brean beach

These were the unusual scenes on Brean beach, near Burnham-On-Sea, on Sunday morning (February 17th) when sub-zero temperatures left a bank of ice along the high tide line.

Several inches of slush was deposited along the beach after thermometers in the Burnham area sank to a teeth-chattering -6° Centigrade overnight.

A lack of wind and waves has led to calm seas during recent days, which helps the ice to form in very cold conditions.
