farm machinery show to be held in Highbridge this weekend
The sights and sounds of vintage farm machinery working in
summers gone by are set to return to Isleport Farm in Highbridge
The annual vintage farm machinery show on July 26th and 27th
will include a gathering of road rollers and associated implements
once owned by Highbridge road making contractor W.W.Buncombe along
with a display of photographs of the engines in their working
There will also be demonstrations of ploughing, threshing, hay
making and country crafts throughout the weekend.
Many rare and previously unseen pieces of farm machinery and
equipment will be on display and working.
will also be able to view displays of Steam Traction Engines,
Vintage Tractors, Vintage and Classic Cars, Motorcycles, Commercial
Vehicles, Horticultural Machinery and Stationary Engines.
There will also be a market trade area and the sounds of vintage
Organisers say they are pleased to welcome back the South West
Tractor Pullers who will be demonstrating 'The Worlds Most
Powerful Motor Sport', pulling a heavily weighted sled down a
track with highly modified, high horsepower farm tractors and
A fly-past is planned by aircraft from the Battle of Britain
Memorial Flight, weather permitting on Saturday.
Last years show raised over £2,000 for our chosen
charities and once again we will be supporting the Macmillan Nurses
and the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance.
The show is open from 10am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets
are: adults £6 and children under 16 free.
