Highbridge school student wins prestigious award for his life-saving first aid skills

-

A student from Highbridge’s King Alfred School Academy has been awarded a rare prestigious award from the town’s 290 Air Training Corps.

James Wood, a Year 9 student, has been awarded the Wing Commander’s Commendation for Meritorious Conduct for First Aid.

It comes after James correctly diagnosed that his grandad was having a heart attack, and assisted his mum in a separate incident when she was suffering from a panic attack.

Principal Nathan Jenkins said this week: “James has acted with incredible maturity and he deserves his award. He is exactly what the school is all about.”
