-

Highbridge’s 66th annual Festival Of The Arts has been hailed a huge success after ending its 10-day run on Saturday (March 16th).

Over 1,800 talented youngsters from the ages of three upwards competed at Burnham’s Princess Theatre in scores of dance, speech, drama, singing and instrumental categories.

Festival Chairman Jenny Golding – pictured with musical adjudicator Elizabeth Brazier at the festival’s finale with St Joseph’s School pupils on Saturday – said the event had been a great success.

“It has been a really successful year with some superb performances,” Jenny told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “We thank everyone who took part and supported us in any way.”

Maureen Phillips, the festival’s General Secretary, added that 1,800 performers had participated over the whole festival and that the event had attracted around 2,000 audience members, making it one of the best supported ever.
