Pupils at St Andrew’s School in Burnham-On-Sea are celebrating this week after winning a top regional competition.

Dozens of children from across the district competed in the Sedgemoor Schools Biathlon, held in Burnham-On-Sea, on Sunday.

The event was organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy and saw over 90 youngsters competing in running and swimming events.

St Andrew’s VC Junior School won the overall title, delighting the pupils and staff at the school.

“We are immensely proud of this achievement,” said head teacher Gavin Morris. “Many congratulations to our team and a big thank you to their parents for supporting this event and well done to Sara’s team at the Academy for organising another excellent occasion in our community.”

Organiser Sara Cox Conklin said the biathlon had been a great success. “Congratulations to all our athletes who competed in the Sedgemoor Schools Biathlon Championships. We saw some fantastic racing, both on the field and in the pool.”

“We had a record number of entries – 90 – in this our third year of running the Sedgemoor Schools Biathlon Championships.”
