Burnham-On-Sea angler Nigel Devey reeled in this bumper cod weighing 12lb 3oz during the opening boat fishing competition of the year on Sunday (January 14th).
Nigel won the annual Presidents Cup competition, organsied by Burnham Boat Owners, when a group of eight boats carrying 20 anglers took part.
“Fishing was tough for most but everyone found a few fish in the end,” a spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Only cod made it back to the scales with a few thornies and whiting falling just shy of our minimum landing sizes.”
“Winner on the day was Nigel Devey with a fine cod of 12lb 3oz and 68%.”
Second was Martin Quinn with another barney of 11lb 4oz. Martin also took 3rd with a codling of 4lb 3oz, part of a six-cod haul for him. Nigel’s cod also won the pools. Well done guys.”
