A new luxury pet hotel and spa is set to open for business in East Huntspill next week – and Burnham-On-Sea.com has been given a first look inside the unqiue facilities.

Wags & Whiskers Pet Hotel & Spa aims to be “one of the largest and most luxurious pet hotels in the UK” by offering short and long stays for pets.

The multi-million pound new facilities will open on Monday, November 27th and shall provide a variety of services for dogs with luxury kenneling suites, hydro therapy, grooming and more.

Talking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, owner Dean Murphy, pictured, says he bought Brent Farm in Newbridge Lane off New Road in East Huntspill four years ago.

As a long-time dog owner, he’d dreamed of creating “modern, much-needed” facilities for pet owners in the region and embarked on a three-year project to turn it into reality wth his daughter Natalie.

“I’ve been around dogs since I was a child and I fully understand them and their needs. We are offering something completely different with high quality accommodation for pets,” he says.

The 23 luxury rooms include two presidential suites, two executive suites, and 19 deluxe suites.

As well as luxury soft beds, the rooms feature TV screens for home comforts, infra-red heating, calming music and ceiling fans.

CCTV cameras fitted in each room also let owners to check on and view their pampered pooches over the Internet.

The suites also come with outdoor space for fresh air, and a separate exercising area with grass.

Staff monitor dogs 24 hours a day using the cameras to provide ‘room service’. Other facilities include a grooming room with wash and blow-dry for dogs, plus special pet food preparation areas, and a separet quarantine isolation area for dogs suffering with ailments such as kennel coughs.

Dean says that a luxury hydro pool and spa area with a water treadmill is also set to be constructed in the coming months where owners will be able to take a dip with their pets.

He also adds that a ‘doggy day care’ facility will open soon and says a further building for cats is also being built on the five-acre site, subject to planning consent.

Dean adds that a chauffer van service is also running to and from local homes and airports to make it easy for owners to have their pets collected for stays.

Wags & Whiskers Pet Hotel & Spa also accommodates small pets including guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits.

He adds that the reaction has been “greatly supportive”, showing there is demand for quality kenneling.

“We are offering something very different here and are excited to have seen lots of very positive feedback from pet owners during our first open days this week.”
