Couple’s 20 years of work praised by Burnham-On-Sea swim group

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Disability Swimming Group delivered a surprise to long-serving volunteer organisers John and Barbara Lovett this week.

Committee member Paul Parkin presented a glass shield and a certificate to them to show members’ appreciation for the couple’s ongoing and dedicated support over the past 20 years.

The couple thanked the group for the presentation, but John added: “We do appreciate what has been done today, but it isn’t just the two of us. The club depends on a team of volunteers to help our members and support the organisation and sustainability of the clubs existence.”

The group meets every Wednesday morning at Burnham Swim and Sports Academy in Berrow Road and caters for the whole of Sedgemoor. Short or long term membership is available and anyone with a disability who is interested in benefiting from swimming should call 01278 641517.
