Hot weather gives tourism trade a boost in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Soaring temperatures have given Burnham-On-Sea a welcome financial boost as the good weather attracts large numbers of visitors.

Temperatures in Burnham peaked over the weekend at 21°C (69.8°F) on Saturday – and the good weather created queues for ice creams and left High Street shops busier than normal.

Louise Parkin from Burnham Pavilion told Burnham-On-Sea.com sales of ice creams and cool refreshments had been “marvellous” throughout the weekend, adding: “The great weather has really brought out visitors and put people in a good mood.”

And Sonya Fudge from the Bay View Cafe added: “Our trade was well up on normal March weekends. It’s been a good start to the season.”

Many accommodation providers in Burnham-On-Sea say they too were boosted by the weather with an upturn in last-minute weekend bookings.

The Met Office says the hot weather is due to continue today (Monday) with temperatures reaching 20°C during another fine, dry and very warm day before cooler weather arrives mid-week.
