Burnham's
new Christmas lights winched into position ahead of switch-on

Burnham's
brand new £12,500 Christmas lights were being winched into
position along the town's High Street on Thursday (November 9th)
as more details were announced about the grand switch-on being
planned for later this month.
The
nineteen new lights - supplied by lighting company Blachere -
are being installed by staff from Burnham's Buncombe Electricals.
Once
in position, each light is being tested in readiness for the grand
switch-on, which will be performed by ITV West News presenter
Peter Rowell on Saturday November 25th at 4pm outside GW Hurleys.
An
outdoor Christmas Market selling crafts and gifts will also be
held along the High Street throughout the day, with a proposed
road closure set to be put in place between Cross Street and Abingdon
Street.
Talented
local operatic singer Tim Pitman, pictured right, has been added
to the line-up of entertainment during the afternoon. He
will be singing a range of festive and operatic music live in
the High Street after the switch-on. There will also be music
from a brass band and carols from local theatrical group, Curtain
Call.
Performers
from Circus Americano, pictured, will also be wowing the crowds
ahead of their Christmas shows being held at Sanders Garden World.
And
there will also be a visit by Father Christmas - plus a visit
from Orchard FM's Black Thunders.
The
project to introduce the new lights has been largely funded by
Sedgemoor District Council with additional contributions from
Burnham Town Council and Burnham's Chamber of Trade, as we previously
reported.
