Burnham's
fundraising firewalkers make charity event a sizzling success!
Watched
by large crowds, almost 30 daring volunteers walked over burning
hot coals to raise money for a local charity on Wednesday night
(June 21st).
Local
bobby Mark Curran was among the 28 gutsy locals taking part in
the event to raise money for Secret World Wildlife Rescue. We
have video footage of the event here.
The
red-hot coals were stoked up to temperatures reaching over 1,200
degrees centigrade before the night-time walk took place.
The walkers had to put mind over matter with every step and, fortunately,
none of them suffered any pain or injury.
Organisers thanked those who had come along, taken part or donated
sponsorship cash. Several thousands of pounds is expected to have
been raised.
Burnham
Patrol officer Mark Curran said afterwards the event had gone
"perfectly." He added how much he'd enjoyed taking part.
