Vandals
rip up paving slabs in Burnham-On-Sea's
Marine Cove gardens

Vandals
have gone on the rampage in a Burnham-On-Sea public garden, ripping
up paving stones and damaging seats.
Marine
Cove has been partially closed to the public after vandals conducted
the night-time attack over the weekend.
Speaking
on Monday night, Mayor Eric Gill hit out at the vandals, saying:
"It's a disgrace. They've ripped up 30 paving slabs around
the edge of the garden. It's completly pointless."
"It's
so bad that we've had to tape the area off."
The
incident comes just a fortnight after Burnham police bosses vowed
to crack down on trouble in the gardens following previous incidents
regarding alcohol abuse and vandalism.
Nearby
residents say police rushed to the scene in the early hours of
Sunday when the incident unfolded. The town council now faces
a bill of several hundred pounds to get the damage repaired.
