Burnham-On-Sea
volunteer to receive MBE at Buckingham Palace
A
Burnham-On-Sea
St John Ambulance Brigade volunteer who was awarded an MBE in
the Queen's New Year Honours list is to receive her award during
the next few weeks.
Pat
Comer, of Rosewood Avenue, is set to be presented with the award
at a ceremony in Buckingham Palace on June 9th.
"I
was quite surprised - I had no clues whatsoever," she told
Burnham-On-Sea.com on hearing the news last December.
Pat
has spent much of her life volunteering with St John and is currently
the group's deputy commander in Somerset.
She
has helped St Johns since she was 11, overseeing the cubs and
cadets in Highbridge and also the adult division.
Pat,
who is a church warden at Burnham's St Andrew's Church, is also
closely involved with the Somerset St John Fellowship group, which
helps retired ambulance volunteers.
