Burnham-On-Sea
Police and Highbridge Football Club face off for charity
Burnham-On-Sea
Police
faced off against Highbridge Town Football Club on Sunday (February
26th) when the two teams met in a charity football match to raise
money for a local youth club.
The
event, held at Highbridge Recreation Ground, was organised by
PC Tracey Stiles and Community Support Officer Jill Udall from
Burnham Police Station.
The
match was held to raise much-needed cash for a youth club on Highbridge's
Moorland Road estate.
And,
once the sponsorship money had been counted, almost £700
had been raised.
The
game was won by Highbridge Town 3-1 and was described by the referee
as a "nice clean game."
Dennis
Davey, Burnham and Highbridge's Deputy Mayor, presented the trophies
to the winning team, the two men-of-the-match and the referee.
The
Highbridge and Burnham branch of St John Ambulance were also in
attendance to deal with the injuries sustained by the players.
