Motorist flees from Burnham-On-Sea police during seafront questioning

-

Burnham-On-Sea police are searching for the driver of this vehicle after he fled from the scene after being pulled over in Pier Street on Monday evening (October 9th).

Officers told Burnham-On-Sea.com they were continuing their crackdown on anti-social drivers along The Esplanade when they pulled over the car to investigate several possible offences at around 5pm outside The Reed’s Arms pub.

But when a police officer started questioning the man, he fled the scene and ran off at speed. “The motorist escaped from the officer questioning him,” confirmed a police spokesman. “Our investigations are continuing and as usual we would appreciate any information from eyewitnesses who may have seen the incident.”

Meanwhile, the vehicle has been impounded for several offences. It comes after Burnham-On-Sea.com exclusively reported last month that Burnham police had launched a major crackdown on anti-social driving along the town’s seafront.
